Hello Doctor,
A few weeks ago, I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum. I’m currently 12 weeks pregnant and am wondering when I should go to the ER with HG. I haven’t been able to keep food or liquids down for the past 24 hours. Should I be concerned or wait it out?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. It’s important to seek medical attention immediately. You need to go to the hospital to undergo several tests, including a blood test, urine test, and possibly a scan to rule out the possibility of carrying twins or a molar pregnancy. Additionally, checking for dehydration is crucial, as it can worsen your condition.
2. Treatment will depend on the severity of your symptoms and whether there are any signs of dehydration. Based on the results, the medical team can provide appropriate care to manage your condition and ensure both your health and the health of your baby.
Thanks
