Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I'm trying to figure out when I conceived. I had intercourse on November 20th, then got my period on November 24th, which lasted 7 days as usual. After my period ended, I had intercourse almost every day. Now I'm pregnant. Could I have conceived from the intercourse on November 20th, or was it more likely after my period ended?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Based on the information you provided, it is unlikely that you conceived from the intercourse on November 20th since you had a normal period afterward. Conception most likely occurred after your period ended, especially if you had frequent intercourse. The best way to determine the approximate date of conception is through a dating ultrasound. I recommend scheduling a scan as soon as possible, as early ultrasounds are the most accurate for estimating gestational age and conception date.

Thanks
