Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’m 6 weeks pregnant and taking Belbuca, gabapentin, bupropion, and Adderall. I’m worried if these are safe and whether I should stop them. My doctor’s appointment is in two weeks. Also, how can I know if I’ve had a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy? I’m 35, a smoker, and possibly have endometriosis.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

You need to see a maternal-fetal medicine specialist as this is a high-risk pregnancy. Smoking must be stopped immediately. Medication safety can only be assessed after a full evaluation, including an ultrasound. Do not stop medications abruptly without medical advice. Follow up with your doctor as soon as possible.

Thanks
