Hello Doctor,
I had my last period on December 12, 2023, and we had intercourse between January 2-5, 2024. According to my tracker, it was past my ovulation week, so we didn't use contraception. But now, by January 12, 2024, I still haven't had my period. I'm unsure if this could be due to pregnancy or another issue. I recently had a baby in August 2023 and I’m breastfeeding. Since I had a C-section, I don't feel physically or mentally ready for another pregnancy, and if I am pregnant, I would like to terminate it. Can I handle this with pills through an online consultation, or do I need to visit a doctor in person?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
It is possible to get pregnant while breastfeeding, so I recommend you first take a home pregnancy test to confirm whether you are pregnant. Once you have the result, it's important to consult with a doctor in person. Deciding whether to continue the pregnancy or to consider abortion, as well as the method that may be appropriate, should be discussed with your healthcare provider. They can guide you through your options and ensure you receive the care that’s best for your health and well-being.
Thanks
