Hello Doctor,
I am pregnant and recently had some blood tests done. My results showed that my Toxoplasma IgG is 10.70, Rubella IgG is 42.20, Cytomegalovirus IgG is 118, and Herpes Simplex Virus 1+2 IgM is 2.25. I’m wondering if these results are normal or if there’s something I should be concerned about.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. Based on the information provided, if you are less than 20 weeks pregnant, I strongly recommend discussing these results with your partner. It is important to consider the potential risks to the baby, as some of these infections, such as toxoplasmosis or cytomegalovirus, can lead to complications, including abnormalities. Some of these can be detected through ultrasound or other screenings.
2. However, you have not provided details about your age, past medical history, or any previous treatments, all of which are important factors in assessing the risks and making an informed decision.
3. Ultimately, the decision on how to proceed is yours. You can consider treatment options, but please ensure you have a detailed discussion with your healthcare provider to fully understand the implications for both you and your baby.
Thanks
