Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

Lately, I’ve been noticing that my breasts have been getting larger and more tender. I’m also experiencing some milk production, even though I’m not pregnant or breastfeeding. I’m worried this might be a sign of something unusual. Can you help me understand what might be causing these changes?

Hello

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Based on the symptoms you've described, one possible explanation could be pregnancy, as breast changes, tenderness, and milk production can occur during this time. I recommend starting by taking a home urine pregnancy test to check for pregnancy. Additionally, it would be a good idea to schedule an ultrasound scan to confirm and ensure everything is progressing as expected.

If you are pregnant, it’s important to begin antenatal care. This typically includes regular check-ups every month, along with screening tests to monitor both your health and the development of the baby. After nine months, you would also need to plan for delivery.

Thanks
