Hello Doctor,
Please help me understand my situation. I ejaculated outside my girlfriend’s vagina on the 7th day of her period, but we did not have intercourse. She is a virgin and remains so, as there was no penetration. After I ejaculated, she changed her underwear and pants, as they had become wet, and wiped the semen from the area outside her vagina. Her last period started on February 7, and the ejaculation occurred on February 13. Her average cycle is 28 days. Given these details, is there a chance she could become pregnant?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the response to your query below.
Firstly, it’s important to know that sperm can travel quickly and, in some cases, precum can also lead to pregnancy, so the withdrawal method alone isn’t a reliable way to prevent pregnancy. However, since you mentioned there was no penetration, here’s some additional context for educational purposes.
For a 28-day cycle, ovulation typically occurs about 14 days before the next period, which is when she is most fertile. If ejaculation happened on the 7th day of her cycle, she would likely be in her “safe days.” Ovulation often happens between days 11–21 of the cycle, and if it occurs on day 14, conception can happen that day or within the next 24 hours. Because sperm can survive for up to 5 days in the female body, pregnancy is possible even if intercourse occurs a few days before ovulation. Based on the details you provided, however, the risk is minimal since there was no penetration and her fertile window would typically begin after day 7.
Thanks
