Hello Doctor,
I had unprotected sex on the 4th day of my period, and the condom broke. I took the i-pill within 12 hours. My period, due on 13th September, was delayed. After taking a beta hCG test, it came back negative. On 18th September, I had light bleeding for 2 days, which didn’t soak the pad. After passing a tiny clot, the bleeding stopped. Four days later, I took another beta hCG test, which was negative. However, I've been experiencing one-sided pain since the bleeding, and a pelvic ultrasound showed no issues. Could I still be pregnant, or is there another cause for the pain?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. Based on the information you've provided, the chances of pregnancy are extremely low, if not zero. The fact that you took the i-pill soon after the condom broke, along with two negative beta hCG tests and the subsequent light bleeding, strongly suggests that pregnancy is not the issue.
2. However, the pain you're experiencing could have a variety of causes that can't be determined without a physical examination. It’s important to consult with your gynecologist as soon as possible for a thorough evaluation and to rule out any underlying conditions that could be contributing to the pain.
Thanks
