Hello Doctor,
I have missed my period for nearly two months, despite consistently engaging in protected sexual intercourse with my husband. Am I still possible to be pregnant? My last period occurred at the end of January, and I have not experienced any bleeding in February or March. Earlier this month (March), I took a pregnancy test, which came back negative. However, two days ago, I had unprotected sex with my husband, but he did not ejaculate inside me. Could I already be pregnant, or is there a risk of pregnancy from the unprotected sex with the withdrawal method?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
It is still possible to be pregnant even if you have engaged in protected sexual intercourse with your husband.
It is recommended to consult with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and testing, such as a B-HCG blood test, to rule out pregnancy or any other potential causes of your missed periods.
Additionally, the withdrawal method is not a reliable form of contraception.
It does not prevent the release of pre-ejaculate fluid, which may contain sperm.
For more reliable contraception, it is essential to use other forms of birth control such as condoms, birth control pills, or intrauterine devices (IUDs).
Thanks
