Hello Doctor,
I found a small lump in my armpit a month ago, and it’s grown bigger and painful. It’s now oval-shaped, the size of a dime, and below the hairline. I’m also experiencing sharp pain extending to my shoulder and breast, which started yesterday and is worsening. The lump is tender but shows no discoloration. Can you help identify the cause?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. Based on the description of your symptoms, it’s possible that the lump you're feeling could be an enlarged lymph node, which can occur due to some sort of infection. Lymph nodes can become swollen and tender when the body is fighting an infection, and this can sometimes cause pain that radiates to nearby areas, like your shoulder and breast.
2. However, it’s important to have a detailed discussion to explore other possible causes and determine the appropriate course of action for your treatment and management.
3. I recommend scheduling a consultation to discuss your symptoms in more detail and to help guide you through the next steps for diagnosis and treatment.
Thanks
