Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I have been experiencing fever and body pain for the past two days. I have taken painkillers and fever tablets twice, along with a multivitamin. After taking the medication, I feel better for about 10 hours, but then the fever comes back, and the body pain and weakness return as well. What should I do next?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.

1. Fever and body pain for two days can be caused by infections like a cold or flu. It’s good that the painkillers and fever tablets help for a while, but since symptoms keep returning, you should monitor your condition closely.

2. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids and get enough rest. Fever and body pain happen as your body fights infection, but the medicines only relieve symptoms temporarily—they don’t treat the cause.

3. Watch for warning signs such as very high fever (above 102°F/39°C), difficulty breathing, chest pain, severe headache, or persistent vomiting. If you notice any of these, seek medical help immediately.

4. Because your fever and pain are ongoing, it’s important to see a healthcare provider for proper evaluation. They may need to run tests and prescribe the right treatment. Avoid taking more medication than recommended without advice from a doctor.

Thanks
