Hello Doctor,
I am experiencing redness in my eye and tearing while using the computer. What can I do to alleviate these symptoms?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Redness and tearing may indicate an eye infection or inflammation. Do you also experience blurry vision? If you have redness, tearing, and blurry vision, it is advisable to seek the expertise of a doctor or ophthalmologist (eye doctor). Other causes of redness and tearing include eye irritation and a condition known as computer vision syndrome (CVS). Here are some tips to combat CVS:
1.Keep your hands clean and wash them as needed with soap and clean water, as most eye infections and inflammations spread through hand-to-eye contact. Avoid rubbing your eyes.
2.Practice the 20-20-20 rule while working on the computer. Every 20 minutes, focus on an object 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds to give your eyes a rest and potentially reduce tearing or redness.
Thanks
