Hello Doctor,
My shoulder has dislocated many times this past year, but a few days ago it dislocated twice within 30 minutes, and I haven’t been able to cope with the pain. What should I do on my end to alleviate the pain and soothe it?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Dislocated shoulders need to be evaluated with X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs, as each dislocation can damage the cartilage and bone of the small shoulder glenoid, where the humeral head moves against. Recurrent dislocations indicate an unstable shoulder and require prompt treatment, possibly including surgery. If it is your dominant hand, it is crucial to get it fixed, as arthritis may develop soon.
Remember, it's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific situation. They can provide guidance on how to manage your shoulder dislocations and reduce the risk of future occurrences.
Thanks
