Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've been experiencing pain on my left side, and my left ovary was measured larger than the right. The size was recorded as 4.6 x 4.2 x 2.4 cm with a volume of 22 cc. Additionally, my uterus measured 9.9 x 6.4 x 5.3 cm with a thickened lining of 1.9 cm. I've also had small amounts of bleeding between periods. Could this be a cause for concern, and what should I do next?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Based on your symptoms and the findings, it would be advisable to perform a Pap smear to assess for any abnormalities. Additionally, a hysteroscopic dilation and curettage (D&C) may be necessary to obtain tissue samples for further evaluation. The tissue will need to be sent for histopathology to determine the cause of your symptoms. Treatment will be determined based on the results of these tests, and depending on the findings, surgery may be required. It’s important to follow up with your healthcare provider for further guidance and treatment options.

Thanks
