Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've been experiencing severe itching, a rash, and severe abdominal and back pain. My stool has been thin and floating, and I've also fainted recently. Additionally, I'm having issues with gas. What could be causing these symptoms?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

In addition to considering Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) as a possibility, it's important to note that other conditions could also cause these symptoms. These might include gastrointestinal infections, food intolerances, inflammatory conditions like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, or even more serious issues like pancreatic or liver disorders.

To determine the exact cause, your doctor may recommend tests such as blood tests, stool tests, imaging studies (like ultrasound or CT scan), or a colonoscopy to examine the colon and small intestine. Based on the results of these tests, a treatment plan can be tailored to address your specific condition. It's crucial to seek medical advice promptly to receive an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Thanks
