Hello Doctor,
What foods should I eat and avoid with an ulcer? I saw the doctor 11 days ago, and she confirmed it as an ulcer. I was given a 10-day prescription for Prevacid, but I still have stomach pain. I am unsure about the dietary recommendations and seeking advice to promote quick ulcer healing. At 21, it is hard for me to understand how I developed an ulcer in the first place.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
When dealing with an ulcer, it is generally advisable to avoid consuming oily and spicy foods as they can aggravate the condition. Additionally, incorporating regular exercise, meditation, and yoga into your routine can help reduce stress, which may contribute to ulcer symptoms. It is important to steer clear of painkillers, particularly nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), as they can worsen ulcers. Adequate sleep during the night is also crucial for promoting healing and overall well-being. By following these recommendations, you can support the healing process and alleviate symptoms associated with ulcers.
Thanks
