Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've been experiencing a lot of pain due to chlamydia, and it's becoming really uncomfortable. The pain is mainly in my lower abdomen, and I also feel a burning sensation when I urinate. Is there anything I can do to relieve the pain while I wait for treatment to start working?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

It’s important to get a full examination to check for any other infections that may occur alongside chlamydia, such as gonorrhea, herpes, trichomonas, or even HIV. Testing is essential to confirm the type of infection before starting treatment. Chlamydia alone is often asymptomatic, so if you're experiencing pain, another issue could be present. Early treatment is crucial to prevent complications, including fertility issues in the future. Additionally, your partner must also be treated to avoid reinfection.

Thanks
