Hello Doctor,
How can I tell if my hymen broke if there was no blood and I didn’t feel anything unusual? Is there a way to check if it’s still intact?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.
1. It’s a common concern, but many people don’t experience bleeding or pain when their hymen stretches or changes. The hymen is a thin tissue that can wear down or stretch from activities like exercise, tampon use, or even naturally over time, so no blood or unusual feeling doesn’t necessarily mean it’s intact or broken.
2. There’s no reliable way to check your hymen yourself, and it’s not advised to try. The best way to find out is by seeing a gynecologist. A doctor can do a gentle examination and give you accurate information. They’ll also take your medical and activity history into account.
3. Keep in mind, the state of the hymen is not a medical indicator of virginity or sexual activity. Everyone’s body is different, and the hymen varies from person to person.
Thanks
