Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’ve recently noticed that there’s blood in my sperm, and I’m feeling quite concerned. This has never happened before, and I’m not sure if I should be worried. I haven’t had any pain or other symptoms, but the presence of blood is making me anxious. Could this be a sign of something serious, like an infection or another condition?

Hello

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

The presence of blood in sperm can sometimes be caused by an infection, but it could also be due to other factors such as a tumor or an issue with the prostate or seminal vesicles. In order to determine the exact cause, further investigation is needed.

I strongly recommend that you see a doctor as soon as possible for a thorough examination. You will likely need blood tests, urine tests, a semen analysis, and possibly an ultrasound to check for any underlying issues. Once the tests are completed and a diagnosis is made, we can discuss the appropriate treatment options.

Please don't delay in getting checked out. Early detection and treatment are important to address any potential health concerns.

Thanks
