Hello Doctor,
I have been experiencing a strong vaginal odor for the past two years, and it hasn’t gone away despite maintaining good hygiene. I have never been sexually active, so I’m unsure what could be causing it. There is no itching or unusual discharge, but the smell is persistent and quite embarrassing. What could be the reason, and how can I get rid of it?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. A persistent vaginal odor that has lasted for two years could be due to several underlying causes, including bacterial imbalances, poor pH regulation, or even metabolic conditions. Since you have never been sexually active, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are unlikely, but other factors like bacterial vaginosis, yeast overgrowth, or even diabetes could contribute to the issue.
2. I recommend getting a full gynecological check-up to assess your overall vaginal health. Additionally, a blood sugar test, urine analysis, and urine culture should be done to check for infections or any metabolic conditions that could be affecting your body’s balance. Based on the results, appropriate treatment can be provided to help resolve the issue.
Thanks
