Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I recently had unprotected sexual intercourse, and now I’m experiencing some uncomfortable symptoms. I’ve been feeling a burning sensation in my penis, especially when I urinate. Along with that, there’s also some itching and a discharge that wasn’t there before. These symptoms started a few days ago and seem to be getting worse instead of better. I haven’t taken any medication yet because I’m not sure what’s causing it. Could you please let me know what kind of tests I should get done, and what the possible treatment options might be? I’d really appreciate your help.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.

Your symptoms suggest a possible sexually transmitted infection (like chlamydia or gonorrhea), or another infection such as urethritis or a UTI. Recommended tests include a urine test, urethral swab, and blood tests. Treatment usually involves antibiotics based on the cause. Please avoid sexual activity until tested and treated. Inform partners and seek care promptly to prevent complications.

Thanks
