Hello Doctor,
On Wednesday, August 28, I took two pregnancy tests, and both were positive. However, when I took another test on Sunday, September 1, it came back negative, and I started bleeding with large clots. I have PCOS, but I'm unsure if I'm experiencing a miscarriage.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
The likelihood of a miscarriage is high, but since the test result was negative, it could also indicate an ectopic pregnancy. In some cases, pregnancy in individuals with treated PCOS may result in loss. To confirm the diagnosis, a physical examination, a serum beta HCG test, and an ultrasound scan will be conducted. Blood tests will also be performed to check hemoglobin levels and determine blood type. Treatment will depend on the condition diagnosed. If it is a miscarriage, a uterine cleanup procedure may be necessary. If it is an ectopic pregnancy, surgery under anesthesia will be required, which could be done through laparoscopic or open surgery. Additionally, a delay in menstruation is also possible.
Thanks
