Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I am 38 days late for my period after taking emergency contraception. All the tests are negative, even took blood pregnancy tests and they were negative. What can I do?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. It's not uncommon for your period to be delayed after taking emergency contraception, as it can affect your hormonal cycle. Since your pregnancy tests, including the blood test, have come back negative, I recommend waiting for another week or two to see if your period starts.

2. If it doesn't, it would be a good idea to repeat the pregnancy test. Additionally, it may be helpful to get an ultrasound scan to rule out any other potential issues or to check for any underlying causes for the delay. If you're still concerned or have further questions, feel free to reach out for more advice.

Thanks
