Hello Doctor,
I have a concern regarding an unwanted pregnancy. My husband and I had planned not to have children. I got my last period on April 20th and it was due again on May 9th. During that time, he was wearing two layers of clothing, but he got wet in his pants. He then touched the wet area and had some contact with my vaginal area, almost like fingering. Am I at risk of becoming pregnant from this? I really don’t want to be pregnant. If there’s a chance I could be, how can I avoid it? Also, how can I induce my period?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Based on your situation, here’s what I recommend:
1. Emergency Contraceptive Pills (ECPs): You can take emergency contraception as soon as possible to reduce the risk of pregnancy. ECPs are most effective when taken within 72 to 120 hours after unprotected intercourse.
2. Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs): After addressing the immediate concern with emergency contraception, I recommend discussing long-acting reversible contraceptive options with your healthcare provider. Methods like IUDs or implants can provide effective and long-term protection against pregnancy.
Thanks
