When to See a Doctor After Hitting Your Head and Feeling Dizzy?

Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I slipped and fell yesterday and hit the back of my head on the ground. It was just slippery soil, not concrete or anything hard. I got up right away and didn’t lose consciousness or feel confused. Since then, I’ve been feeling a little dizzy off and on. I haven’t noticed any memory problems or headaches. Should I see a doctor to be safe?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.

Since you fell on a soft surface, didn’t lose consciousness, and only feel a little dizzy without other symptoms, there’s no immediate cause for concern. Minor dizziness can happen after a fall like this. Please rest, avoid strenuous activity, and watch for symptoms like severe headache, vomiting, confusion, weakness, or worsening dizziness. If any of these occur, or if your dizziness gets worse, see a doctor promptly. For now, relax and monitor how you feel.

Thanks
