Hello Doctor,
Around 3 years ago, I started experiencing almost daily extreme panic attacks and some seizures (NES), which I was told were related to panic attacks. This was hard for me to believe. I ended up in the hospital multiple times, convinced it was a heart issue. Eventually, I was referred to Psychiatrist Dr. Michael Feld. After almost 2 years of SSRIs, SNRIs, and NDRIs, my symptoms have only worsened.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
It’s very probable that your symptoms are manifestations of a mental health issue. Psychiatry is a medical specialty that, like others, can sometimes face challenges in accurately diagnosing patients. What you’re experiencing is not uncommon; many individuals face persistent symptoms that are difficult to link to specific conditions.
Unfortunately, it can be challenging for psychiatrists to translate subjective symptoms into objective data for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Many practitioners may not fully grasp how to make a correct diagnosis, which can lead to treatment being directed incorrectly.
In your case, while it’s clear your symptoms indicate a mental health problem, it seems you may have received an inaccurate diagnosis, leading to ineffective treatment. This situation can be incredibly frustrating and detrimental to your well-being.
I recommend considering a second opinion from another psychiatrist who may provide a fresh perspective on your symptoms and a more suitable treatment plan. As both a psychiatrist and psychopharmacologist, I witness countless individuals struggling with mental health issues that have been inadequately diagnosed and treated. It's crucial to approach mental health care with the seriousness and expertise it deserves.
Thanks
