Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’m 17 and haven’t had my period for months. I’m having trouble sleeping, body aches that move around, tingling in my legs and fingertips, and numbness on one side of my leg. I have anxiety and depression, and these symptoms started when my anxiety got worse. What could be causing this?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.

1. Your symptoms might be related to somatization, which means that emotional stress and anxiety can cause real physical symptoms like aches, numbness, and sleep problems. It’s not uncommon for mental health issues like anxiety and depression to affect the body in this way.

2. The good news is that with the right treatment including therapy and possibly medication, you can start feeling better and manage these symptoms effectively. If you’d like, you can reach out anytime for a proper evaluation and personalized care plan.

Thanks
