Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I had a hernia repair with total abdominal wall reconstruction and panniculectomy on 10/10. My incision site looks worse and worse. No one seems to be concerned. I have sent my surgeon pictures and even went to the ER. I am not sure what else to do at this point. I am attaching a picture of it tonight.

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

As per your complications after your hernia repair. Based on your description, it appears that your incision site is infected and may have progressed to abdominal wall gangrene. This is a serious condition that requires immediate attention.

I strongly advise you to seek urgent medical assistance from a surgeon. It’s essential that they examine your incision site, open your stitches, and perform debridement as soon as possible to remove any infected tissue. Delaying treatment could lead to more severe complications, such as septicemia, which can be life-threatening.

Please prioritize getting the care you need. Your health and safety are the most important considerations right now.

Thanks
