Hello Doctor,
I'm a 48-year-old female dealing with a chronic cough since June. Morning wheezing cough fits persist for 1-2 hours. I've tried cough drops, robitussin, and erythromycin, but nothing helps. Seeking advice to alleviate the coughing. Also, dealing with acid reflux and post-menopause.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Good day! Considering your symptoms and age, I suggest conducting a chest X-ray and possibly a Gene Xpert test for tuberculosis. This will help rule out other bacterial lung infections like bronchopneumonia. For now, you may need to switch to more potent antibiotics like Augmentin tablets or any cephalosporin like Cefuroxime tablets, 1 gram twice daily for a week, until your sensitivity report is available. Thank you, and have a lovely day!
Thanks
