Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I just got my rubella test results back, and it says 106. I’m currently 4 weeks pregnant, and I’m really worried. Is this a bad result? Should I be concerned about my baby?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Your rubella test result of 106 suggests a strong immune response, but to determine its significance, you need to repeat the test for both IgG and IgM levels. If IgG is very high, it may indicate a past infection or immunity, while a high IgM could suggest a recent or active infection. Given that you are 4 weeks pregnant, it is crucial to consult an obstetrician as soon as possible. They will evaluate the results in detail and discuss the potential risks and next steps, including further testing or management options. A more detailed medical history would also be helpful in assessing your situation.

Thanks
