Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

Would there be a reason on why I have a natural head tilt that may not have to do with reflux?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr.Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

The two most common reasons for a natural head tilt are related to muscle and neurological issues. One possibility is a dystonic effect, where the muscles in the neck involuntarily contract, causing the head to tilt. This can be part of a condition known as cervical dystonia or torticollis. Another cause might be an abnormality in the muscles that control eye movement, which can create an imbalance in your posture as your body compensates for vision problems.

It's important to address this concern early on. I recommend that you visit your primary care physician to get a referral to a neurologist for further evaluation. The neurologist can perform detailed tests to determine the exact cause and suggest treatment options to manage or correct the issue. This may include physical therapy, medication, or other therapeutic interventions to improve your symptoms.

Thanks
