Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

"I got my ear pierced 3 days ago and now there's a small lump behind my ear near the neck. My ear is swollen and more painful. Should I remove my earrings? whats the reason of lumps?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

The lump beside your ear is likely a reactive lymph node, indicating an active infection from the piercing. It's advisable to remove the piercing and apply local antibiotics and anti-inflammatory treatment.

Thanks
