Hello Doctor,
I am a 20-year-old female, 5'4" tall and weigh 172 lbs. Recently, I’ve been feeling like I might be losing my hearing, but when I test myself, I can actually hear quite well. I’m not sure if I’m just being paranoid. I don’t experience any ringing in my ears or sensitivity to loud noises. Could you please help me understand what might be going on?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.
Feeling like you’re losing hearing without actual hearing loss or symptoms like ringing or noise sensitivity can sometimes be due to anxiety or temporary ear issues like mild congestion or eustachian tube dysfunction. Since you don’t have other concerning symptoms, it’s unlikely to be serious, but if this feeling persists or worsens, a hearing test and ENT evaluation would be helpful to rule out any underlying problems. Meanwhile, try to avoid loud noises and monitor any changes.
Thanks
