Hello Doctor,
I’m currently visiting Vermont from Connecticut, and on the way up, my ears started popping due to the altitude change. I’ve also had a head cold for the past few days, and now my ear feels clogged. I’ve tried everything, but it won’t pop no matter what I do. What could be going on, and how can I fix this?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
It sounds like you may be experiencing fluid accumulation behind your tympanic membrane, which can happen after a cold, especially with changes in altitude. This can cause the feeling of a clogged ear and prevent it from popping. If you’re also noticing hearing loss or experiencing any pain, I would recommend seeing an ENT doctor to get a thorough examination and appropriate treatment.
Thanks
