Hello Doctor,
I went to the emergency department because I had chest pain. During the first consultation, the doctor thought it could be heartburn, so they gave me an IV treatment to help with the heartburn, and I also drank a Gaviscon-like medicine. At my second review, the pain had reduced but was still there, so they gave me Anarex. After that, I was discharged. However, when I got home, I felt queasy and started vomiting. I believe I might have even thrown up some bile. Do I need to go back to the emergency department?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. Gaviscon is indeed a good medicine for heartburn, as it helps neutralize stomach acid and provide relief.
2. However, if you're feeling tired due to vomiting, it's a good idea to consult a doctor again for a further check-up, especially if you're still experiencing discomfort.
3. Vomiting can lead to dehydration, so it's important to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. If your symptoms persist or worsen, seeking medical attention is recommended to ensure everything is alright.
Thanks
