Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’ve noticed a lump in my right breast that seems to be leaking yellow fluid. The lump also hurts when I touch it. I'm really worried because I’ve never experienced anything like this before. Could you please tell me what this could be and if I should be concerned about it? Is this something that needs immediate medical attention?

Hello

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Any lump in the breast, especially one accompanied by discharge, should be thoroughly examined by a healthcare professional. It's important to get it checked, as it could be caused by a variety of conditions, such as an abscess, an infected cyst, or in some cases, even a tumor. Painful lumps often indicate infection or inflammation, which may require immediate attention.

The best way to diagnose the issue is through a breast ultrasound, which will provide a clear view of the lump and help us determine the cause. If necessary, a surgical procedure might be recommended for further evaluation or treatment.

It's also worth mentioning that breast lumps are typically managed by a surgeon, so I encourage you to consult with a specialist who can guide you through the appropriate steps for diagnosis and care.

Thanks
