Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I missed my birth control pill twice this month—once last week and once this week. Both times, I took two pills the next day to make up for it. Am I still protected, or should I be concerned about pregnancy?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Yes, in more than 90-95% of cases, you are still protected. However, if you’re concerned and want extra reassurance, you can use an additional barrier method, such as condoms, for added protection. Choosing the best contraceptive method depends on your personal needs and lifestyle, as success and failure rates vary. If you find it difficult to remember taking the pill daily, you may want to consider other options like a patch, injection, or an IUD. If you have any doubts, a consultation with a doctor can help you determine the best choice for you.

Thanks
