Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

Why is it necessary for me to continue long-term use of oral antibiotics and topical treatments for my adult acne? Initially, my dermatologist started me on an oral antibiotic, which effectively cleared my acne and relieved the constant itch within days.

Answered by Dr. Aditya Favade

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Acne takes time to treat, typically requiring three to four months. However, certain individuals with acne may require an extended duration of antibiotic treatment.

Thanks
