Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’ve been noticing a strange pain on the right side of my tooth whenever I jump or move quickly. The pain doesn’t happen all the time, but it’s pretty sharp when it does. I’m not sure if it’s related to my tooth or something else. Could this be caused by something specific, like a dental issue or another condition? I’m concerned it might get worse, so I wanted to ask for your advice.

Hello

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Pain in your tooth when jumping could be related to cavities or tooth decay. These issues weaken the structure of your teeth, making them more sensitive to pressure or sudden movements. When you jump or engage in other physical activities, the additional force exerted on your teeth can irritate these weakened areas, leading to discomfort or pain.

This is particularly common if the cavity is near the nerve of the tooth, as the impact or pressure can trigger a painful response. If you’re experiencing this kind of pain regularly, it’s important to get your tooth checked by a dentist. Early treatment can help prevent further damage and alleviate the pain.

Thanks
