Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

What is this next to my molar? I got a root canal done on it in December 2023, and since then, this thing has been present next to my tooth. It pops sometimes, and pus comes out, and sometimes blood comes out. I also have a little sensitivity in that tooth when hot or cold water touches it. It's been here since December 2023.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

You may be dealing with a dental abscess or fistula. This can occur when an infection in the tooth or surrounding tissues doesn’t completely heal after a root canal. The pus discharge, sometimes with blood, indicates that an infection is likely still present. The sensitivity to hot or cold might be a sign of ongoing inflammation or nerve irritation.

Thanks
