Hello Doctor,
I’ve been experiencing sudden and severe pain in one of my testicles for the past few hours, along with some swelling and nausea. The pain started without any injury, and it hasn’t gone away. I also noticed that the affected testicle seems to be sitting higher than usual. Could this be testicular torsion, and what should I do?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. Testicular torsion is a serious problem that needs quick treatment. It happens when the cord that supplies blood to the testicle gets twisted, cutting off blood flow. Your symptoms sudden and strong testicle pain, swelling, nausea, and one testicle sitting higher are signs of this condition.
2. This condition requires urgent surgical intervention, typically within six hours, to restore blood flow and prevent permanent damage or loss of the testicle. Do not wait—head to the emergency room immediately. Delaying treatment increases the risk of losing the testicle. Seek medical help now.
