Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’m a 25-year-old female dealing with severe, continuous headaches in the front and back of my head. I work in IT, which is stressful, and I often overthink about the past, present, and future. This overthinking prevents me from falling asleep, no matter how tired I am, leaving my eyes feeling heavy and dull. I want to break this cycle of overthinking and improve my sleep. Do you have any advice or treatment suggestions to help me fall asleep more easily?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

To help improve your sleep and break the cycle of overthinking, you can try some sleep therapy exercises. Drinking a relaxing tea, such as lavender or chamomile, or hot milk before sleep may help soothe your mind. Aromatherapy with lavender essential oils is also known to promote relaxation. It’s important to avoid using gadgets before bedtime, as screen time can interfere with sleep. Using block-out curtains in your bedroom can help create a more restful environment. Additionally, taking sleeping supplements such as Melatonin may help regulate your sleep cycle.

If your symptoms persist, it’s advisable to contact your local healthcare provider for further evaluation and treatment options.

Thanks
