Hello Doctor,
I am a 30-year-old female, and I was recently diagnosed with allergies. I was prescribed medication, but since then, I think I may have developed a staph nose infection. I have thick, sticky mucus in my nose, specifically on the inferior turbinates. I've also been experiencing chest pains, as well as pain on the side of my kidney and on my right ovary. Could this be an infection, or is it related to my sinuses? What should I do?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
1. Based on your symptoms, it sounds like you may be experiencing a sinus infection, which could be a complication of chronic allergies. The thick, sticky mucus in your nose, especially on the inferior turbinates, is commonly associated with sinus issues.
2. However, the chest pain and the pain you're feeling on your kidney and right ovary side are concerning and suggest that you may have another issue that requires further evaluation. These symptoms are not typically related to a sinus infection and could be linked to other medical conditions, so I would recommend seeing an internal medicine doctor for a thorough examination and appropriate tests.
3. In the meantime, continue managing your allergy symptoms as directed, but please seek immediate medical attention for the other pains you're experiencing.
Thanks
