Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I'm a 56-year-old man, and I've been feeling pain in the area where my testicle was surgically removed eight years ago, especially after exercising. Doctors have mentioned it might be connected to the ilioinguinal nerve. I've already sought medical advice for this matter.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Potential Cancer-Related Origin: Understand the possibility of pain stemming from conditions like prostate or testicular cancer, especially if cancer was the reason for your testis removal.

Medication for Pain Management: Consider medications like gabapentin or pregabalin, alongside standard painkillers such as ibuprofen, to alleviate discomfort while undergoing diagnostic procedures.

Adjusting Exercise Routine: Modify your exercise regimen to minimize potential pain exacerbation, as strenuous exercise might contribute to your discomfort.

Rule Out Infection: Perform a urine microscopy and culture (MCS) to rule out any underlying infections that could be contributing to your symptoms.

Early Detection: PSA screening aids in identifying prostate cancer at an early, more treatable stage.

Thanks
