Hello Doctor,
I’ve been experiencing blackouts when I stand up for more than a minute. I also had sweaty palms, difficulty breathing, and a fast heartbeat. When I stand upright, it feels like all the blood rushes down from my head, and I see black spots before passing out. This morning I woke up with a migraine. I can stand for longer now but still get the same sensation as yesterday. I also feel extremely fatigued.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Your symptoms may indicate orthostatic hypotension, also known as postural hypotension, which is a form of low blood pressure that occurs when you stand up after sitting or lying down. This can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and potentially fainting. In some cases, orthostatic hypotension is mild, but it can significantly affect daily life. It’s important to check whether you might have postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS) with your clinician. Symptoms often occur when you stand up and can improve when you sit or lie down, including dizziness, lightheadedness, and noticeable heartbeats (heart palpitations).
Thanks
