Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I had my period on 22nd November. I took an I-pill on 4th December and experienced withdrawal bleeding on 10th December. Since then, I haven't gotten my period. I took a pregnancy test, and it came back negative. What should I do next?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

You have two options:

1. You can wait a few more days, as menstrual cycles can sometimes become irregular after taking emergency contraception. If your period arrives, there's nothing more to worry about.

2. If you're still concerned, it's advisable to take another pregnancy test and consider getting a scan to rule out any potential issues, including an ectopic pregnancy. Based on the results of these tests, further treatment can be recommended if necessary.

Thanks
