Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’ve been having irregular periods for the past few months. My cycle used to be fairly regular, but lately, my periods have been coming late or sometimes skipping a month entirely. I haven’t made any major changes in my lifestyle, and I’m not on any birth control. Should I be worried? What could be causing this?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.

Irregular periods can happen for many reasons, including stress, weight changes, thyroid issues, or hormonal imbalances like PCOS. If your cycles have been off for a few months, it’s a good idea to get a basic check-up. We may recommend some blood tests and a pelvic ultrasound to find the cause. It’s usually treatable, so don’t worry, but don’t ignore it either.

Thanks
