Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

My last period started on January 29 and ended on February 2. I had unprotected sex on February 2 and 3. My cycles are not regular, so I’m not sure when I ovulate. Lately, I’ve been experiencing mild cramping, a tingly sensation on my left side, and a lot of wet discharge. Is it possible that I could have conceived?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. Based on the dates you provided, it is unlikely that you conceived, but not impossible. Ovulation typically occurs around the middle of a cycle, but since your periods are irregular, predicting your exact ovulation window can be difficult.

2. The symptoms you are experiencing—mild cramping, tingling on one side, and increased discharge—can be due to hormonal fluctuations, ovulation, or an approaching period. However, if your period does not arrive as expected, the best way to confirm or rule out pregnancy is by taking a urine pregnancy test. These tests are usually accurate if taken at least a few days after a missed period. If you are still uncertain or have concerns, consulting a doctor for further evaluation, including a blood test, may provide more clarity.

Thanks
