Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

On November 4th, I followed the Yuzpe method, taking four pills every 12 hours, and then another four pills after 12 hours. However, I took the remaining pills 12 hours apart. I got my period on November 16th, which was a bit early since my regular cycle is usually on the 21st or 22nd. But this December, my period is late. What should I do?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Nothing to worry about for now. It's common for your cycle to be slightly irregular after using emergency contraception like the Yuzpe method. Just wait for your next period. If you're feeling very anxious, you can take a home pregnancy test using a urine kit to put your mind at ease. If your period doesn't come or you're still concerned, feel free to reach out for further advice.

Thanks
