Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

p>I am 29 years old. I have an important family function coming up, and I want to prepone my periods by a week. My last period started on 18-01-2024. Could you please guide me on how to take medication for this?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. You can take progesterone tablets (such as Medroxyprogesterone or Norethisterone) for 5 days, starting around two weeks before the date you want your period to come. The usual dosage is 10 mg twice a day. After stopping the medication, your period should start within 2-5 days.

2. However, I recommend consulting a doctor before starting the medication to ensure it is suitable for you, considering your medical history. Also, be aware that hormonal pills may cause mild side effects like nausea, bloating, or breast tenderness in some cases.

Thanks
